About The Artwork

ARTIST: Yarovaya Ksenia. WORK: Original oil Painting, Only one instance. TECHNIQUE: Oil on Canvas YEAR: 2016 SUBJECT: "Santorini. Legend of Atlantis" SIZE: 85" x 70" cm. -- 27,5*33,5'' in. Framed. Stretched on wooden bar. Description the painting: "The extraordinary story of one extraordinary painting" The painting, entitled "Santorini. The Legend of Atlantis", was painted by me in 2016, for the large international project of the Russia-Greece 2016 cultural year, in which my paintings were shown in Moscow and Athens, for my contribution to the development of culture, I was awarded a golden UNESCO Medal. I really loved this work, it was inspired by the story told by Jacques-Yves Cousteau when he and his team explored the crater of a long-extinct volcano in the Aegean Sea near the famous island of Santorini. These Francois romantics searched for the lost Atlantis in this place. This painting unexpectedly for me and all of us got an amazing story, as a result of which it received "art scars". I’ll tell you one amazing and incredible story today, since nothing like this happened to me and to my paintings until that day... One beautiful and hot Greek summer of 2018 hosted my seasonal exhibition in one world-famous five-star hotel, the shores of which are so affectionately washed by the gentle Aegean Sea. There were a lot of people, pleasant and enthusiastic reviews, a positive atmosphere of relaxation, culture, a large number of art lovers, a very good experience for my work. I was able to sell 5 excellent works, such works were also exhibited that are the basis of my work. Such works that I did not sell because they were written for major international exhibitions. One of these paintings is "Santorini. The Legend of Atlantis". It was Sunday morning, I was sitting at a table and drinking my morning coffee with a view of the sea, a man came up to me, who introduced himself as a banker from Western Europe. We talked about my paintings, in a conversation, he suggested that I buy a painting from me that he really liked, unfortunately I refused, since it was one of those paintings that are not for sale. He offered me a large sum, but I did not give in, when he left, I realized that he was very upset by the refusal. In the next few weeks, I received several offers from this person regarding the purchase of this painting, but this time I said no. At the close of the summer exhibition season, at my exhibition, there was a presentation of a new painting, written in a new technique and manner. My premiere work was presented to the public, in the midst of the event there was an incident which I will not forget until the end of my days. A banker came out from behind the columns and offered me a large sum for my face. His face was crimson, his fists were clenched, he ran up to me and began to shout out words in an incomprehensible language, he was angry, at that moment I thought that this man was one of those stop at nothing in achieving their goals... And all of a sudden, he tore one of my works from the wall and threw it in the direction of the exhibition. It’s good that the guards reacted very quickly, they seized him and took him away. Thanks to the Almighty, none of the guests of the exhibition was injured, but unfortunately he threw the painting on one of my favorite and real works. on Santorini, as a result of this, the picture received, as I called them “artistic scars,” in the photographs you can see the results of my meeting with a ferocious banker. I was not upset, because I had an extraordinary picture with an extraordinary story. The painting has undergone restoration and now I am ready to part with it, although it will always remain in my heart as an “artistic scar”

The sun of the artist Ksenia Yarovaya was born from birth - while still a child she showed interest in drawing, which later grew into a profession: the sun, generously bestowed on her artistic talent, burst into this world with an awareness of its vastness and riot of colors, among which she wanted to find her and it is not surprising that once life brought her to Greece, where the sun is not only in the sky for almost three hundred days a year - it is in every smile and look, in every splash of sea wave and gull cry, in children's laughter and in the wise words of old people, in every th branch of olives and every grain of sand. It plays with rays from ancient temples and gives unforgettable sunsets and sunrises, it gives life and this will never change. Two suns met to make the world even brighter and more delightful - that if not creativity improves it? ......... Academy of Painting Sculpture and Architecture.
