About The Artwork
This painting is a physical embodiment of the anxiety of our times. Covid-19, climate change, rapacious capitalism… it feels like the bottom has fallen out from under those of us in the 99%. Fish Tank Sam, even though he can’t physically smoke the cigarette in his hand, is still reverting to an all-too-human ritual to ease his worry. Anything at all just to feel human. I am an innately mixed media artist, using whatever at hand that will communicate my idea effectively. These days that usually is spray paint, charcoal, and street markers.
