About The Artwork
I had seen 3 generations of women in my life and am inspired by the strength they possess to live their life to the fullest especially in the Indian Patriarchal society, where a woman is seen more like "things to own" than a human! I wanted to do a series of conceptual oil painting on the story of women. one of the art works is this painting, in which I wanted to show how women are sold as commodities, even in this very evolved society. The art work is an oil painting on stretched cotton with soft wooden internal frame, which is easy to hang. I hope the viewers see this not just as an erotic painting but to see the oppression that women face every day.
