About The Artwork

Several years ago a customer at my husbands frame shop brought in a painting of a goat that was so charming and whimsical that I really wanted it. But I lost track of the piece and since that time I have wanted to paint a goat. Not just any goat - but a goat that was colorful and just a bit surreal. So fast forward a few years and I have a 36x48 wood panel that’s begging for a painting. It sits for awhile and then one day I decide - now is the time for the goat. So I researched goats to try to figure out 1. How to paint a goat and 2. How do compose the goat in a setting. I chose a mix of Caribbean and desert. Thus the Caribbean colors and the cacti. . I’m really happy with it. It’s a goat. Looking out and wondering why it’s in a desert.

I am a native California artist working in a variety of mediums from acrylic on wood panel and canvas to digital renderings and typography. "My earliest memory of knowing I wanted to make art was after I received a set of high quality felt tip markers as a Christmas gift. The back of the package had a painting by Monet - who I was not familiar with at the time - and after seeing the image I thought that someone rendered that painting with markers. Which led me to believe if someone else did that then I could too. What ambition for an eight year old!" My work ranges from abstract landscapes, to modern design, typography and a clear activist influence to some of my work appealing to feminists and outspoken progressives everywhere. I believe in the democracy of art; that art belongs to everyone and create works that fall into a variety of prices making it available to a range of budgets and buyers. “My art is an adventure. I am constantly trying out new styles and techniques but when I look at my collection I see a similar palette or unique signature that defines my individual nature. I continue to grow and learn and discover through my art". I received my BA in Fine Arts from Cal State East Bay and show in galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area.
