About The Artwork

I am often captured by agate stones broken apart. Their elegant and intricate shape, the contrast of brown and gold-colored layers can make you stare at it for a long time, with your eye following all the curves. There are no two stones alike, every one is unique, and so is this painting. To accurately and precisely capture the feeling of a softly shining agate stone, I used acrylic paint.

I was born in a city which doesn't exist anymore, but many know about it, and in a country that once stretched over 1/6 of our planet. Sounds mystical, but actually it's the USSR and Leningrad which was later renamed to St. Petersburg. So I grew in St. Petersburg, and as many of kids in Russia's Capital of Culture, attended art classes and Children's Art School, where I tried anything from fusain drawings to paintings on wood (and of course I painted matryoska dolls, too!). I liked art, but at the same time I didn't think I could work in this field because of terribly low income. I needed another path, so I decided to be an environmental engineer, to help save the nature of my country. I studied 5 years, but learned that our environmental supervision is extremely corrupted... and decided to go back to art path, studying and working as a designer! This is a very interesting, but at the same time a nerve-wrecking career: making a large billboard or a logo for a big company is very different from sketching something for your own pleasure. After working in design for almost 8 years, my husband and I decided to change our quiet life, and moved to Australia. This meant I finally had some time and resources to do what I liked and cherished all my childhood. I decided to sell some of the paintings that were born this way, and I'll be very happy if someone likes it and decides to bring it to their place to warm it up!
