About The Artwork

Ragged but not broken, the remnants of the once proud Army of the Kiwi, lead by the resolute Gen Isaiah Whatipu, await the dawn and the final charge of the massed Stoat and Weasel Army gathered below. Their courage and self sacrifice a beacon to all who cherish freedom. Hopelessly outnumbered, yet steadfast to the end.. they are the Last Kiwi. This painting is from Stu Duval's 'Birdlandia' Series which depicts the lives and history of birds and other creatures living in the fictional world of Birdlandia in the Southern Seas circa 1860. This peaceful nation is beset by trouble with the invasion of the Stoats and Weasel Armies of the Northern land of Weaselpotamia. They must rally a rag-tag army to defend themselves against overwhelming odds.
