About The Artwork

A solitude northern landscape short after a rain storm. A far sound of waves breaking on a shore. Suddenly a threatening grinding noise and stomping. Search lights rushing over the meadow and trees. Two gigantic droids stalk through the little forest, coming closer. One of them damaged and smoking, almost collapsing. What are they up for? Are they looking for you? The absence of man, width, menacing giants coming closer. This mixture is what is appealing to me. It lets me enjoy the silence first and lets me shiver when the threat breaks through. This is what I want the viewer feel. Make up your own mind what happens here. They are coming for you....

Born and raised in Hildesheim, Northern Germany, I found out pretty early that I love to draw. I later on studied graphic design to make my passion a profession. Just to find out that drawing doesn't belong to a graphic designers daily activities any longer. After I became father of two awesome girls I did and still do work as a freelance designer with costumers that allow me to draw. But something was missing all the years. A few months ago I found out what it was. I put a panel on my easel, bought some oil paint, grabbed my brushes......and started to paint. What a pleasure. What a satisfaction. As long as I can think I admired the art of Edward Hopper and lately discovered the works of swedish Simon Stalenhag. This combination was the ignition spark for my very first oil painting. That is what I want to do! Landscapes, moods, atmosphere, solitude in addition with a small portion of science fiction and surrealism. Does it work? I don't know, it works for me at least. Does that make me an artist? I still see myself as an illustrator since I love to tell little stories with my pictures. That's what an illustrator does. That's my comfort zone. Whatever people want to call me, one thing is for sure: I won't stop painting anymore. I have so many pictures in my head that need to be let out. I'm ready to improve myself and to grow with every painting. My next panel is already bought....
