This painting was inspired by woman's love of beauty and makeup in order to use a mask which can change who we really are. The Geisha lady in the painting is working her trade, but although she likes the money and the kudos her soul is in need of something more; the flowers on her collar and in her hair represent the need for her to return to nature and find her true self.
