About The Artwork

This image refers to the literature classic "In Search of Lost Time" by Marcel Proust. Long ago, science and literature took a break from each other. Only Marcel Proust reconciled them. In addition to the philological explanations of his texts, there have also been countless psychological and neurobiological analyzes of the so-called The Proust Phenomenon. It was inspired by the famous episode about the Magdalene from the beginning of the first part of the series "In Search of Lost Time": the taste of a cookie dipped in tea evokes an unexpected wave of emotion in the narrator of the novel. Intrigued, the hero begins to ponder his feelings and discovers the reason for them. It turns out that the taste of madeleine reminded him of his youth and Sunday mornings in Combray, when Aunt Leonia would treat him to pieces of cake after dipping them in tea.

In my work, I am interested in the relationship between social roles and intimate human needs. Cultural gender, age, religion, origin, family or social structure, and geopolitical situation entail specific expectations that a person faces. There is a need to make decisions or passivity. I believe that my paintings touch on this moment of internal uncertainty and indeterminacy, I show sympathy with confusion and foreboding, uncertainty and certainty, shame and boldness. Duality accompanies me constantly, and leaving cultural roles gives me the opportunity to look at the consequences.
