Artist Biography: Jim Joint was born and raised in Erie, PA and currently lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife Maureen. He comes from a family of artists and was a student in Erie Central High Schools Art Program. After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for 22 years until retiring. Throughout his military career he kept his creative side alive by making art and improving in his craft. Jim’s paintings have been exhibited at galleries and art festivals in the DMV, including the 17th Street Festival, Barracks Row Festival, Annual Arlington Festival of the Arts, and Target Gallery’s Sweet Tooth Group Show. Jim has a Bachelor of Science in Management from Park University and a Master of Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University. Artist Statement: My artistic influences come from many things, but mostly other artists that I admire and follow. I am currently focused on drawing and painting figures in fun, sexy, and brightly colored settings. I work with digital, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints. I grew up drawing and painting wildlife-focused art but in the early 2010s I became bored with the subject matter. After being exposed to a few artists with a bit edgier artwork that I found appealing, I decided to shift my focus to figurative art. My paintings typically incorporate risqué elements such as tattoos, lingerie, and other accessories. I also like to use extremely vibrant colors in my paintings. These colors and elements combined are meant to draw the viewers eye, even if their instinct is to look away.
