About The Artwork

The inspiration of this work is derived from nature. By using complementary colors move the viewer to feel as alive and energized as the painting. The warm colors of orange, yellow, and red are in dialogue with the cool blue marks. The painting pops with color. The materials chosen include encaustics, beeswax, and oil paint. These materials naturally illuminate the subject that inspires me. The ephemeral quality of layered beeswax creates a shallow foreground, middle-ground, and background. The color palette and layering create a push-pull dialogue, just like the dialogue found in nature. My unique style is a hybrid imbued with strains of Abstraction, Minimalism, and Neo Expressionism. Signed, titled and dated on verso.

What draws me in and gives me pause in the natural world is the raw, rough, and sublime. Out of that experience comes the creation of works that are simultaneously provocative, gorgeous, and at times terrifying. —Anoush Bargamian Anoush Bargamian (b.1963, Providence, Rhode Island) is a Chicago-based artist.
