About The Artwork

A depiction of a home in the old part of the historic town of Jodhpur, India. Sections of such homes are modified by occupants over a period of time as their needs grow and pressure of modern society dictates the transformations in their architecture. Many of such structure still abound in the desert bound town when stone and not bricks was the mainstay as a material of choice in construction activities in the old days. The blue color of the old houses has lent the city of Jodhpur the epithet of the Blue City.

Born in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), the colorful and ebullient metropolis and capital of the eastern state of Bengal, India, and raised in India's capital city, Delhi, I was fortunate to have benefited from both the cultural legacy of the "renaissance" city of the East and its heritage as well as imbibe a modern outlook provided by the latter. I am an engineer by profession and have been engaged in oil exploration and marketing downstream products in various parts of India and currently based at Delhi (India). Photography, playing guitar and playing with colors has been a passion since my childhood. I created quite a few "master pieces" during the time, however were lost under the ever thickening blankets of time. My profession took me to various parts of this incredible country and wherever I went, so did my camera. Looking at events unfolding before my eyes has developed into a passion of sorts and I have never grown out of analyzing the various angles that life has thrown at me in its myriad happenings, unfolding at seemingly bizarre and constantly changing hues. Of late my passion of putting colors to the canvas has again been ignited and I have since been trying to capture the various moods as I continue my journey, both as a professional petroleum technologist and a human being. Life has been a great teacher and its various upheavals inspire me to take up the brush and lay my thoughts on the canvas. I find all the past masters my Guru as I tend to learn from each of their brush strokes, every time I get to see their works of art. I am not trained at creation of art in the strictest sense of the term (as is provided by formal training in a school of art). But as there would probably be thousands out there, I started my journey of exploring the world of colors as I picked up my first brush. I might be termed an "emotional painter", if there were to be such a term. I talk to the canvas as thoughts raise up a storm of colors in my mind and figures emerge. As I seek to continue my discovery of the world of canvas and paint and the brush, I seek guidance of the fellow artists so that I may improve my art and be considered worthy of being on the platform, patronized by so many fine artists of incredible talent.
