Oil painting with collages : paper, cloth, sand. This piece is a part of a series about virgin forest, jungles… For several years I have worked on the theme of forests. These offer the visual exploration property extremely rich. This is the first place of vegetable profusion: all kinds of trees, ferns, grasses intertwine in a sometimes stifling atmosphere. It is also the location of the mystery hidden behind the foliage birds, mammals, reptiles ... The fact that these tiny lives are invisible or imposing under arouses the visitor curiosity and concern. The forest is finally a symbolic space. This is the location of the event prompting the lost to excel, to overcome his fears to become stronger. In my painting, I touched on this topic exciting two axes. The first, the forests of fairy tales. The second theme is the virgin forests. Compared to temperate forests, tropical forests exacerbate tensions: the vegetation is denser, the animals seem more cruel, moisture, heat suffocate. My painting follows in the footsteps of oneiric and poetic figuration. The world I paint is that of dreams, of the subconscious and of archetypes. My pictorial approach revolves around creating pictures that can be read in many ways, and provoking uncertainty. I may create figurative paintings, but they are certainly not illustrative. I aim to shape an atmosphere that can be interpreted in different ways. On canvas or on paper, I explore the ambiguities inherent to representation. I intertwine different techniques to reveal the complexity of the visible world and evoke the invisible. I use acrylic, oil, charcoal, pastel, collage… I mix the script, leaving some areas only alluded to by light touches, unexpected spots of colour, superimposed layers of glazes, or on the contrary, drawing with deliberate precision a hand, a face, a small detail… A painting for me must not be obvious or straightforward. It should instead incite discovery. Just like a dream also can…
