In 2014, Oleg Mingalev saw with his own eyes the barricades on the Maidan in Kiev. He was struck by the participation of children who helped build the barricades. Everyone knows the problem of Ukraine, which even this bloody revolution could not cope with. Yes, the organized mafia of the so-called oligarchs, who run both members of parliament and presidents alas to this day. Of course, the children have grown up, but they are disappointed. Almost documentary surroundings, the look of a journalist armed with a brush and completely immersed in a historical moment. The painting was created also directly in Ukraine in 2014 and has been exhibited several times, making a splash. The composition includes an allegorical figure of a soaring angel, as well as the Book of Genesis. We see figures of children. One of them put a pot on his head instead of a helmet. This is also an eloquent fact. Color combination yellow-orange glow on the dominant gray. The picturesque composition "Kiev Saga" can be compared with Tarkovsky's film "Andrei Rublev". Oleg Mingalev deliberately uses cinematic techniques of dynamic composition and the atmospheric language of cinema. The narrativistic approach fully justifies itself in this composition, which continues the traditions of the great masters, especially the 19th century. After all, our time can be reflected thanks to the receptions of the brilliant tradition. The hyperrealism of this composition captures completely and creates a feeling of goosebumps, compassion, sympathy and hope
