About The Artwork
This watercolour portrait is soft and feminine, however the black lines and washed ink technique gives this painting its edge. I paint directly with water on paper, and once I add the ink, this finds it own way. This technique allows for a spontaneous outcome and keeps a sense of movement in the lines. The details are done with glitter paint, marker and gouache. The watercolour technique is combined with digital mixed-media collage. After printing the work on Hahnemühle UV-protected fine-art paper, I paint over it to make each piece unique. The work is unframed and carefully packaged in a tube.

Charlotte Greeven is an Amsterdam-based artist who creates captivating and emotive portraits through the fluid use of ink on paper. Starting her painting career as a graduate from the Royal Academy, The Hague, she has since honed her craft through various courses such as Lighting Design and Scenography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
