About The Artwork

48 x 36" acrylic, ink, and holographic glitter on canvas 2013 Blake Brasher This is a heavily layered composition of acrylic paint and pigment based inks with accents of holographic glitter on stretched canvas. "Like if Jupiter were on Some Other Planet" is painted on a high quality 1 1/2" profile gallery wrapped canvas. The edges were painted lightly in purple with brush marks showing when I started the painting, and they acquired drip marks and other artifacts of the painting's creation. I think these marks are nice because they help tell the story of how the painting was made. This painting suffered a minor injury in my studio after it had finished drying. It has a small puncture hole which luckily happened in an area that was mostly dark black. I've patched the hole with a small bit of canvas glued onto the back with acrylic medium and have touched up the area on the front of the painting where the hole was made. The puncture is a small rip in the canvas about a half inch long. I displayed this painting in a month long show in Harvard square in March 2014 and had several people look at the painting and nobody noticed the touched up rip, and could not even discern where it was even when I pointed it out to them. Because of this very slight defect I am reducing the price of this painting from $1,200 to $800. For detail images please email me at blake@blakebrasher.org
