Sarah and her family love to visit various theme parks and have family days out. This work was inspired by a large Aquarium in London. Sarah collects images on her travels, the inspiration for this work was a photograph captured in the amazon section of the aquarium. The Amazon exhibit was completely immersive with the heat and added foliage, soft and spongy underfoot to emulate the forest floor, the exhibits soundings highlight the large tanks. For this painting Sarah was playing with the different painting layers and experimenting with different mediums to achieve a softer ground and a strong foreground to achieve depth and to give the fish that floating feeling. “Look out Piranha’s are about” give the sense of fun and happiness but there is also a sense of loss , as the family fun days out to fun filled venues has all stopped and life has still not completely returned, a sense of nostalgia arrises when you imagine the experiences we took for granted.
