A fact-filled fantasy of Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know, sex-mad Lord Byron with his college friend, John Edlestone, at Byron's moonlit ancestral home of Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire. Byron's loyal Newfoundland dog, 'Boatswain' is seen on the Wicked Lord's fort to the left. A commissioned work now in a private collection. As described in the Times Literary Supplement's review of Vincenzo Patane's book 'I frutti acerbi Lord Byron, gli amori & il sesso': In the foreground, a well-hung Byron, shaggy locks glistening, Scottish plaid draped over one well-proportioned shoulder, leaves his nude chorister posing behind him like a sexy Renaissance David. In the Gothic background, storm clouds lour above the ancestral pile; a boat is moored next to a set of stairs leading to the phallic tower and a low paparet where Byron's beloved dog Boatswain waits anxiously... McCann seems to succumb to Byron's erotic charge with sincerity, while acknowledging the pleasures of camp which are never far away from this poet.
