About The Artwork
The lotus is an integral motif in traditional Rajasthani miniatures and Pushtimarg Krishna paintings. The flower in its miniature form made its way into Mughal miniature paintings, as well. However, in most of those works, it is hidden at the sidelines, on the borders, never the focus, and usually in multiples. This painting evokes its symmetrical beauty in isolation, a modern twist on its ancient heritage.
