VIEW IN MY ROOM
This painting was conceived during the approach of memorial day. I have a couple of friends, who are veterans and one evening was discussing the impact of war on them. This started me thinking. I am currently painting a series of works exploring the many aspects of love and the concept gelled into this abstract, figurative and emotional painting that is a visualization of brotherly love, sacrificial love, and at the same time, my personal rant against war. The inhumanity of it. But it can also bring out the love and heroism of mankind. I painted this starting in highly textured acrylic paint, then layered on oils with glazing and scrumbling to give detail, jewel-like tones and luminescence. The two hero, soldier, figures are engulfed in the horror of war. parachutes falling from the sky; looking like semi-transparent jelly fish. Across the largest parachute is written in gold ink "Love is Strong". This is written again, at the bottom of the painting (in Hungarian) "A Szelrelem Eros". The wounded soldier reaches forward in his blindness. Just out of his grasp is a tiny peace symbol. Tiny peach symbols are scattered and hidden throughout the painting in gold ink.

Spain
A person once told me it is a curse to wish someone an "interesting" life. I have found this is only somewhat true because my life has indeed been an interesting one. From a childhood spent living all over the United States and traveling on my families sailboat around the atlantic and pacific oceans to many years now living in Europe. First in Hungary, where I got my art education and now recently in Spain, where I met my second love during lock-down. Settling in the charming, ancient, white washed, mountain village of Casares. Here I now reside. Painting in the shadow of the ruined castle that looms above my studio. For years I have expressed my emotions and ideas on the canvas drawing from history and myth. I began as a figurative surrealist and classical artist but in 2013 I fought and beat cancer and this changed me in a fundamental way. My work became brighter and I increasingly use abstraction in my work. Using symbols, colors and textures to create paintings that are both figurative yet with strong abstract elements. I often explore the duality of life and this existence we all share. Life and death, youth and age, the body and spirit. It is all connected. We are all connected... to EVERYTHING. I celebrate this.
