About The Artwork

Let Calligraphic Art March towards the World On the Unique Creative Accomplishments and Characteristics of Haixin’s Calligraphic Art Author: Professor Y. Phillip Director of America Art Research Institute From the early 1960s when he was only four years old, Haixin began learning Chinese calligraphic art. In 1977 when China restored its college entrance exams, Haixin was among the first who were admitted into the most prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing where he studied natural science and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Polymer Chemistry, and subsequently, his Master’s degree in Technology Economics. His many years’ immersion in traditional culture and the professional training he had received in modern scientific technology have produced the unique quality that entails a knowledge structure where liberal arts and science blend together and complement one another. He traced the origins and studied the most ancient Chinese character symbols, starting from the massive historical materials, and systematically combing through and tracing the Oracle bone inscriptions carved on tortoise shells and animal bones, the bronze scripts that later were cast and engraved on bronzes. He has also sought inspiration from the Western Latin alphabet writing. He studied ancient cuneiform pattern formed since 4,000 B.C. in the Euphrates Valley, the Hieroglyph of the Ancient Egypt, and Gothic script or Fraktur that had begun to be widely used in the religious texts in Western Europe and are still used today in Europe and America in newspaper headers, certificates and for other solemn occasions. Haixin has creatively integrated the concepts of the plastic art and colors in the Western art into the Oriental calligraphic art. His artworks of symbols of characters that he created by using western painting materials and forms are popular with collectors. They believe that the tempo and rhythm manifested in Haixin's artworks through the strokes of the calligraphic art can strike the heartstrings of viewers. The graphics and colors he produced by using the ancient hieroglyphs can tap into viewers’ wisdom, ushering them into a magical and beautiful world.
