The source of this painting is my inner soul who is fed from nature. There are many birds that we abide together and I watch them. I watched and photographed the two magpies in this painting by Mogan Lake in Ankara, very close to my home there. Many magpies also live around and I watch them on the high branches of the tall oak tree that I see through the window of my third-floor studio while I paint, which happened during this painting too. In this original painting, I chose to use a light value, and created a contrast using the bird figures. I added the feeling of motion, making use of the figure form. Depth and transparency are also two plastic values I use in my paintings. I'm using these to explore the possibility of creating a painting in which every form is connected with each other, yet they also retain their individuality. This may be connected to my belief that everything that exists is connected with each other on a level that cannot be perceived with the materialistic mind. --- I painted a pair of paintings as a gift for my husband's birthday, and this is the first of the paintings. So it's not for sale. But the prints are available.
