Polar autumn series. Morning is my favorite time of day, and the sunrises always most completely resonates with my inner sensation. It feels like full sinhronisation with the world and inner self. This is about a new day, about a chance to start something from scratch, about new opportunities, about something incipient and growing, about gaining momentum. This painting is from my short trip across the Murmansk region, located beyond the Polar Circle. It was a gorgeous tundra. The rich flora, consisting mainly of mosses, lichens and berries, created an extraordinary palette of ocher, purple, silver and a little green. And in contrast to them was the deep and rich blue of the Barents Sea. This place caused me a storm of emotions because the nature of that region is so different from the landscapes I am used to.
