About The Artwork

My love for flowers is represented in this painting. It is painted in a loose style, with contrasting and bold colours in the background, that enhance the subtle and light roses, subjects of the painting. Calm, serenity and peace to the feelings I'd like to transmit to the peaple who watch it. All this is possible through the medium of watercolor, which is transparent and vibrant.

Paola Morandi was born in Modena and has always been attracted to drawing and painting. After studying economics, alongside a career in the administrative sector, he continues to cultivate art, attending various specialized courses. In the following years she experimented with other artistic techniques, such as acrylic, material painting and alcohol inks, also approaching the abstract and informal. In 2014 she took part in the first temporary exhibition and from that year she devoted himself to her artistic career; among the various exhibitions we remember the 2019 solo show “Fluide cromie” in Modena. Currently Paola Morandi uses watercolor as her medium of choice, as it allows for the brightness of landscapes and the vibrations of colors to be rendered. Her works made with this technique on paper can be divided into two main series. The first is concentrated on the representation of nature with a particular photographic frame, centered on a few elements in the foreground, such as the variegated surfaces of the trunks, the leaves of the trees, the petals of the flowers, which become apparitions, seem to be able to disperse in a moment later in a light breeze; they are short poems, dedicated to the beauty of nature, where translucent and evanescent elements transmit feelings of harmony. The second series of watercolor paintings is dedicated to the landscape, usually with the depiction of glimpses of trees that are often reflected on the water; these works seem to tell the mood of the artist and the observer himself, with a value given to the nature of the mirror of the soul. A refined technique rich in soft effects, soft light and delicate shades, transforms painting into a silent meditation, reinforced by the crepuscular, ethereal, sometimes monochromatic color choices. The natural elements dissolve into the abstract in another series of paintings made with acrylic and partly enriched with other mixed media. Here the artist loves to experiment continuously, using a "free and intense" material painting that portrays the continuous flow of things through surfaces that ripple and change relentlessly. Often the works are built with the contrasts of blues, ochres and earths, reinforced by particular luminescences. They are symbolic paintings, thoughts on the continuous evolution of life, primordial landscapes where water and earth create new spaces thanks to the flow of energy, representing the deepest and most mysterious part of the self.
