Academie Willem de Kooning, 1988 Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I am a Dutch artist, I make beautiful colored linocuts and paintings. The warm colors that I use come from my fascination for Africa and south America: the expression of the culture in grafic forms, textiles and colors as well as in the music: All this I experienced in my trips to West-Africa, Cuba and lately Mexico. Also small things can be an inspiration: Rustle in the grass, a bird singing in the morning, a beatiful peace of fabric, all this can be a source of inspiration. I love to connect related elements in a magical way. In my work you 'll always find elements from my own background and other cultures. My paintings need no frames. I paint on wood panels, carved with gouges. Sometimes I add goldleav ore cowrie shells. All my Lino's are printed in my own graphic Studio.
