About The Artwork

Inspired by a medieval story about a woman who is staying closed to a tower during a very hot summertime. The red represents the woman body who's burning unter the sun and the blue symbolises the coldness of a woman body according to the medical knowledge of the scientists in the middle age. Truth this painting I am trying to show the contrast between the cold body of the woman and the hot weather in the tower. This painting is not only my own interpretation of the atmosphere of the text, but also my personal contribution to give another perspective that offers until today a lot of enluminures or incunables from the 14th and 15th century. I am trying to give a "modern" representation of all the pictures in connection with this medieval story and I am focusing on the backgrounds to give an idea about the atmosphere of the story. I hope the viewer can see another subject as a medieval story and bring another perspective as my own inspiration. In other words: everybody should see what they want to see and imagine another story as mine, when they see my picture.

Elise Tanari is a Swiss artist who's still living in Switzerland. All her paintings are made in acrylic in canvas. Colors of the back front are trying to give a personal interpretation of the atmosphere of the stories. Literature and painting are for this artist together very connected. For Elise, it's a complementary, but she choose not give any title anymore and wishes that each of us has the possibility to see what they wish to see. In one word: to appropriate of the artwork.
