My homage to Bob Ross. I am here painting with my little granddaughter Luna. She is my muse and the reason I see the future with good eyes. Our shadows are important to us cause that is our humanity. But we are also half fish and we can cross to the other side of paintings. The horizon reminds us that we are just swimming by. The stars will not lie, we are here for a short while. The support was made by myself. I glued and primed the mexican cotton canvas into an also mexican MDF. And after the painting was done it was framed in a gorgeous gold frame with some texture by a framer in Oaxaca. The whole idea was to create sacred art, but of course it is pretty pagan. This painting is part of the series Migraciones, or Migrations. There are four paintings with the same measurements and they are meant to be hanged together, preferably. Because I have been twice an immigrant, nature, landscape, geography is something I use as metaphor for our true place in this world, (only travelers nothing more) with no borders, with ups and downs and light and darkness. I believe my unique style evolves from the painting of life as a collage of metaphors. Therefore, they find themselves in the postmodern tradition of Borges. With a feminist twist. I hope you find endless possibilities when creating your own meaning for this image.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion.
