About The Artwork

Monk from the Mount Athos, Greece. The theme of the Church’s clerics and of the Mount Athos (Greece) has been explored by many of the great artists such as El Greco, Velasquez, Titian, and Rembrandt. The Monk from the Mount Athos throws a sorrowing glance to the viewer (to the guest). The intense and continuous prayer over the years has put its motif on the Monk’s facial expression. He feels closer to the Redeemer and the divinity becomes a reality for the Monk. Oil painting on cardboard. The most famous paint in the world (Old Holland) has been used for this painting. The painting comes with the frame, as seen. *** I recommend that you take a few steps back from the monitor when watching on full screen this painting. *** IMPORTANT: Customers have sole responsibility for all duties, import taxes and brokerage fees. These are not included in the cost of the painting, shipping or handling of your order. Customs, duty, and taxes are non-refundable. Please check with your local customs agency for details on estimated costs. If you refuse a shipment because of unexpected import fees, the cost of the original shipping, any brokerage/customs/duty/taxes, and any return shipping charges will not be refunded.

I started painting under the guidance of the famous Arts School in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I then spent 7 years developing my skills in Madeira and 5 months in Mauritius. For the past years I have been traveling to many places around the world, whilst I also completed many paintings in Romania. I consider myself a sound Portraitist, and I also paint Urban landscape, landscape, still life and nudes. Many of my paintings have been displayed in exhibitions in different countries or in private collections – I can provide credentials for this. I think of myself as following the style of post impressionism. I was born in a totalitarian regime in Romania. When this regime ended in 1989 it took me many years to heal spiritually and emotionally. --------------------------------------------------------------------- For the past couple of years I studied and subsequently published a book on the Holistic Geometry and the Key of Proportions (THE GOLDEN SECTION). I am working to publish my second / updated book. I feel deeply happy and blessed for the very fact that I had the opportunity to rediscover the systems of the HOLISTIC GEOMETRY. I have launched my new collection of abstract / geometry oil paintings and Digital Art in July 2017. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I see myself as an ardent follower of Paul Cezanne. In my opinion he is one of the greatest painters of all times and a true influence to many generations of great painting masters. The motto of my art is: “Painting from nature is not copying the object; it is realizing one's sensations." - Paul Cezanne
