About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the love story and political union of Queen of Sheba and King Solomon as well as "Der Kuss," (aka "The Kiss") a symbolist painting by Gustav Klimt during the Golden Period painted between 1907 and 1908. The romance between the Queen of Sheba (descendant of royal Ethiopian lineage) and King Solomon (descendant of royal lineage of Israel, King David's son) has been one of the most widely known love stories for centuries. Let the viewer feel the passion between these powerful, historical and Biblical figures. I painted them not bejeweled but in an intimate moment, private moment. I used bright colors for their clothes and background and deep earth tones for their skin. I tried to keep their physical features accurate to their regions. May this twist of "The Kiss" remind you that passion, in some form, await us all. "Queen of Sheba and King Solomon" is painted on the sides to appear as the painting wraps around; stretched on a wooden frame; lightly varnished for protection. Enjoy.
