Röntgen (2) Painting

Krzysztof Wróblewski's paintings are composed of the series of figurative images, counterbalanced by a surface covered with geometric ornament of triangles. The geometric bias of his composition is the artist's method of configuring the representative and the abstract together, the visible and the invisible world. Wróblewski admits, that his inspiration in painting is a conventional photographic image; moreover, he emphasises his game as a painter with the photographic convention. Photographic frames, due to their mundane authenticity are intriguing a material for the artist who studies the relations between the view and the image, between experiencing and a recollection. When our eye wanders off the abstract ornament, pulsating with a multi-coloured mosaic of triangles, it reaches the figurative part of the painting. Then the forms gain in meaning, "photographs" become an arrangement of lines and planes, a "real" form receives painterly autonomy. In this way, the artist tries to answer the question whether an utterance in the form of an immobile, painted painting is still possible. He paints his pictures in series ("Fragments", "Clouds", "Draperies", "Izoforms", "Peripherals", "Clippings").
