"A somber yet poetic seaside landscape, painted en plein air in the picturesque Latvian village of Berzciems. On the 60x80 cm canvas, the atmosphere of an overcast day is masterfully conveyed. Nearly half the painting is occupied by the sky, shrouded in heavy clouds. Shy sunrays peek through rare gaps. Below, the sea is rendered in dark tones with rippling waves. Reeds on the shore bend under the damp weather, their drooping tassels emphasizing the raw climate. Lush greenery is visible behind them. The composition is full of dynamism, conveying contrast between the fickle sky and the tranquility of the rural landscape. Forceful impasto brushstrokes create a tactile texture - one can almost feel the moist air and rough reedbeds.
