About The Artwork

The symbol for power/authority, in ancient times, was basically a triangular shape with horns on top. This was a simple line drawing (pictograph) representing an ox's head. This Paleo-Semitic writing was developed in close connection to nature. . .visual metaphors of meaning. Anyway, how the ox was used gave it it's status. When the beast was hooked up to a plough, the farmer could then till the ground. This tilling resulted in the topography being completely changed from what it was before to something different and new. The land in it's unaltered state would not be optimal for germination and growth of the newly introduced seed. So, the landscape is made adaptable by the farmer imposing his will upon the earth. This tilling is absolutely necessary in planting the new seed. So, if all goes well, a crop of grain results. It will feed the ox, but, much more importantly eaten and devoured by the farmer, giving to him more strength and more power. And, of course, the farmer always has the option to eat the ox. The farmer won't eat the ox. He will rather nourish and maintain it. The farmer's quest for power is intrinsically linked to his hoof-ted beast friend of burden. So, likewise, if he is a smart beast, he will always co-operate with his master, the farmer. REVELATION13:11-18 Re 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. Re 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Re 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, Re 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. Re 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Re 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: Re 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Re 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
