About The Artwork

A view of the Red Lion Hotel in Clovelly Harbour, Bideford, North Devon at low tide, painted from the harbour below some fishing boats. There is something romantic about boats resting in the harbour, like resting leviathans, drying and waiting for the next days labour. The colours, shapes and the comforting walls of the harbour make it a homely place, beyond the walls is the tempest of the unforgiving sea. I chose to do this as a watercolour and gouache as the vivid colours of the boats, the green of the trees and the hotel beyond made it a magical place for me. The textures, shadows, and you can hear the gulls and the gentle receding tidal waters lapping at the walls. The sunlight reflecting and playing patterns of the water. This is my happy place and its timeless. I also wanted to paint very small like you are peering through a boats window. The original painting which is also for sale is mounted in a frame measuring 19.5 inches x 12 inches. Its a simple white frame and matte with glass. It would look nice as a part of set in an intimate space or room.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a disabled war veteran who has turned to art as a means of therapy. I sell my paintings to fund my art therapy. It takes me a long time to paint due to fatigue and depression. But once I am painting I forget the pain and it make my mind quiet. Painting for me is peace, I love animals and I try my hardest to capture the essence of their spirit. I paint in a loose impressionistic style, sometime naive I love colour and texture. I also sculpt and make models, compose music.
