About The Artwork
I am fascinated by the story of Salome, mainly because we know barely anything about her other than her enticing Herod to behead John the Baptist. I love Oscar Wilde's play of her story, which this painting is closer to his depiction of the play as Salome holds the head of a man she wanted for herself.
