VIEW IN MY ROOM
A strange blue man in a historical costume looks indefinitely at the viewer. Is he surprised - is he perhaps harboring bad thoughts? He is surrounded by machine-like objects that encircle him, keep him in check or are guided by him. The background shows tiles like in a subway station. Possibly they are waiting here, with the situation appearing static and no goal clear. Waiting, enduring, enduring the situation, trapped in a mechanized, clocked world, in which history only means equipment, is the real core of the picture. The man is stylized as a ridiculous key figure who has fallen out of time and is now wondering about it.

Germany
Ralph Hackeland was born in Cologne in 1965, later lived on Lake Constance for many years and has worked as a freelance painter, graphic artist and designer in Mannheim since studying communication design. In his figurative works, well-known, universal elements and motifs are brought together, creating a dream-like world in the new constellation. The actors seem strangely removed and seem stuck in inevitable developments. The images are snapshots of these developments and become a still image of an inner film, the further course of which is decided by the viewer.
