About The Artwork

She had a « red sister « , now sold. I have chosen turquoise and black for this portrait, as they represent the yin, the water element, that represents the intuition, the world of emotions. My Princess feels, knows, but has the wisdom to wait for the sunrise, guided by the stars.

I was borned in Montreal, Québec, Canada. My academic path includes fashion design, interior design and arts (UQAM, 1996-1999). Growing up in an artistic family, my natural penchant for painting enables me to develop an artistic vision that allies theorical knowledge to a tactile technic and sensual approach. I paint on a rich setting created by successive layers of acrylic and oil from the knife. This background is left intact or water washed from a large brush until obtention of a texture reminding leather. On this abstract surface where the woman is put forth either actual, historical or mythological, sometimes idealized, protected, sometimes humoristic, with her dreams or fantasies accentuated in an elegant kitsch. Finding my inspiration from personal experiences in conjunction with foreign cultural studies, my work is transformed in landscapes or flowers flirting with abstraction, like jewelry box containing all at once time, space, gold leaves frequently used in search of opening up the board. I play with my work with the limit between realism and abstraction, the ancient and the contemporary, strength and fragility in the hope of always leaving free course to the observator his own interpretation. I live and work in Montreal. My work has been exposed in Canada, United States and Europe.
