About The Artwork

I have always been fascinated with the images of light and color on organic form. Especially, light viewed through water in motion. We are surrounded by 75% Ocean. We use take from it and very seldom give back. I view this liquid world in fascination and in a surreal sense. Our ocean world is sensitive and seductive, and full of mystery and folklore of mermaids and monsters. Our ocean world is forever changing and adapting to the environment assaults. I spend as much time as allowed in it. I paint to the moments of sunlight passing through the currents and defusing or distorting color and image. I have also learned to paint portraits with the same light, color and texture approach that my underwater expirences has given me.

I have been a professional artist since 1965. I painted Surrealism. I also earned a living by drawing pedestrian portraits on the NYC sidewalks in colored chalks. I was forced to move dally to different business district streets and avenues due to my "obstruction of passageway" citation. A music magazine publisher, commissioned me to draw portraits of the current Rock & Roll stars for his editorials. In 1969, I was asked to go photograph and interview rock concerts venues around NYC. Filmore east, Electric Circus, etc...This new occupation sent me overseas to photograph giant concerts like Bath, England. Isle of Man, Ireland. Isle of Wight, England etc... I had gone to Los Angeles to photograph a country music legend and his wife. I had to follow them to a San Diego gig to finish the write up. I fell in love with the beach city's. I decided to stay and make Ocean Beach my home base. Moved up to Encinitas where I became well known for my murals on motorcycles and vans as well tattoos and large community wall art. In 1988 i entered Oregon Polytechnic Institute for Engineering in which I achieved an AA in Mechanical and an AA in Architectural engineering. During this time I did art for commissions. I married another artist, Vickey, and had a son Maximilian. We moved north, to Sun Valley, Idaho. There, I unitized my art ability as well as my engineering skills. I retired in 2012, traveled to Central America where I live part time on a beach and again find my self in full circle. Painting etc...The Ocean is part of us all. Life is grand.
