About The Artwork

In this piece, Alexander Levich transports viewers to a seaside escape with "Sketch - III," where a woman is depicted on the verge of a liberating beach experience. The artwork exudes a sense of calm anticipation, as if capturing the quiet before the plunge into the refreshing embrace of the ocean. Levich’s use of a subdued yet radiant palette evokes the unique light of a coastal setting, where the brilliance of the sun is softened by the sea’s reflective serenity. The artist’s adroit use of oils creates a tactile sensation, allowing one to almost feel the warmth of the sun-bathed skin. Levich's fluid brushwork and the diffuse background give this work an almost dreamlike quality, inviting contemplation and a sense of kinship with the natural world. The painting stands as an artistic sanctuary, a testament to Levich's ability to craft visuals that nourish the soul and offer a retreat from the bustling outside world.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at a.levich@protonmail.com. You are also warmly welcome to visit my studio in Kyiv. Thank you sincerely for your interest.
