Ever since I saw the documentary "Note by Note, the making of Steinway L1037", I have been fascinated by the craftsmanship that goes into making their pianos. I'll call this painting a tribute to their work. STEINWAY is a one of a kind original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint. The Steinway text and harp logo were printed on matte photo paper and laminated to the back of the 4 mil mylar that I always paint on. The piano and remaining background were painted on the face of the mylar and the mounted on 1 inch thick foamboard. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This painting will be ready to hang, out of the box. It will be mounted on one inch thick foamboard with a two inch border all around. It will have a hanging strip on the back and I include a “monkey hook” for easy attachment to your wall. It can be on your wall within five minutes.

I am an architect by education, and profession. I have practiced architecture for over three decades. A good deal of my experience as an artist developed from doing architectural plans and illustrations. In addition to my architectural work, I have always enjoyed producing works of "visual art". It has provided a wonderful counterpoint to the precise work involved in architectural drawings: the highly precise vs. the "free and spontaneous". I still work with the same media that I have used in architectural work: India ink, graphite pencil and acrylic paint on archival quality mylar film. I like for my work to show either emotion or action.... Occasionally both. Emotion is usually captured in a close-up portrait or perhaps full figure drawings. Action is depicted in dance or sporting events. Other than that, I don't have any deep philosophical ideas about my art except that I want to produce works that people will enjoy and be proud to have hanging on their walls.
