Mara Kinga painter (Budapest, 1980 - ) After graduating from The Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts, I continued my studies at the Hungarian Accademy of Fine Arts, and the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. My masters were Zoltán Kiss, Gábor Nagy and Iain Patterson. In 2007 I graduated from the Painting Department of the Hungarian Accademy of Fine Arts. Introduction My images are subjective and emotional. My work is rooted in my own experiences, in things I have seen or have gone through in my life. Femininity is extremely important to me. A recurring symbol in several of my pictures is motherhood and the sanctity of its steps, even figuratively. The Annunciation, the understanding of the birth and growth of my own child gave my new tasks and helped me to develop further. Through these experiences, I think more maturely in painting, and see a different, a lot richer world. The joys and worries, the moments of exhaustion, the boundless love, the letting go when the child is about to grow up: these are deeply touching and inspiring experiences for me. I believe that it is my son who gives my eyes for strange worlds, that become images. I am always working in my head, collecting sights. I make sketches like notes. As a mother, I get a lot of inspiration but I also have shortage of time, therefore I always try to be prepared for work and use the limited time in the studio very focused. I also use my travel experiences and the art of different cultures for my work. The time spent in Scotland during my studies several years ago had a major impact on my paintings especially the Scottish landscape and the Celtic art was inspiring for me. A later trip to China and the painting processing of Hungarian folk-art motifs (Transylvanian church interiors with coffered ceilings) also influenced my art. I usually think in series. Such a topic determines my work for a long time because I feel that it is often necessary to depict an idea in several formulations. Everything is changing. There is a process of development in the processing and representation of the subject.
