About The Artwork
The magical coast of St. Ives in Cornwall on the eve of the Summer Solstice. I was there at the exact hour of the sunset on Solstice Day. The outgoing tide had carved a fleeting river into the sand as it drew the ocean water back home. Cornwall has some of the biggest tides and Summer Solstice is very dramatic there. This painting was created from my plein air sketch that I did on site that memorable evening.
