Inspired by Leonardo Caravaggio's original 15th Century oil study of Christ revealing his true identity after the resurrection to two astounded disciples and an innkeeper at the village of Emmaus. An unbelievably dramatic and exciting picture, Caravaggio was a master of the 'chiaroscuro' technique of showing lightcontrasting against dark, transforming what may have been a relatively sombre scene into something hugely dramatic and supremely composed.

I trained as an architect but became disillusioned with it eventually after working in the 'real world' in offices and on site. I've always been good at art and illustration ; the only thing people have remarked upon. So I thought I ought to concentrate more on that. Architecture was interesting but it wasn't really my forte. I wrote a couple of books, but they weren't about art either.The people who have really influenced me have been Tom Keating and Robert Taylor, who was really an illustrator. I like Rolf Harris's work, even though the law made mincemeat of him. I am a Christian, so I tend to steer clear of anything with an evil undercurrent.
