SUSTO was a spanish word for paralyzing fear, traumatic fear and his double face the one that kills and the one that has the power to revive. two medusa: the way it is and the way it's seen by us. medusa was the greek symbol of this fear, in fact she petrified everyone that looked straight in her eyes, when she died she left two drops of blood with the two powers of fears. the two figures represent a man struggling and fighting to go through it and get out on the other side where the headless person guides him to the universe. on the right side there is an empty theatre which represent the way of living life with fear by our side: as a lonely spectator in an empty theatre. the reason why i choose to combine my primitive style of drawing and sophisticated collage images was to create a balance between instinct and rational, i really like the effect that springs form the combination of these two opposites that refers to jung theory of human eternal dualism and is indispensable to art.
