I was inspired by the power and strength seen in this image as a battle of two wills begins. The cow doesn't want to be a ridden by the battle prepared rider. The man wishes to control and dominate and entertain the crowd. Its a game-cows don't normally get ridden. How long can the man last on the animal? Who will win? Caught in the act of jumping, the beast is semi wild and the man is almost in control. American history has been all about taming the West, for good and bad. In that process native Americans have suffered greatly but great good has come as the country has developed. God has given us rights to have dominion over the earth and to control it, the trouble is man has become semi- wild and brings great trouble to others as well. A man's strength controlled for good is good, but to dominate harshly is evil. Politically America and the West can seem divided today. What can bring us back together? Submitting to the kindest, yet strongest will in our Creator is our first need and not trying to live independently as if our will is greater.
