About The Artwork

Feast on eye catching patterns in this distinctive original still life painting. Here an array of fruit, objects and cloth become a rich weave of semi-abstract shapes. With an expressive use of color this special painting will take you on a journey of joy and delight. It's sophisticated mosaic of geometric like shapes engages the viewer in an exciting new way. With brilliant, painterly brushwork a body of textures examines the beauty of paint and it's ability to transform things into a felt experience. Inspiration for this painting centered around my interest in patterns and perspectives and how one might feel as they change and shift from what's traditionally expected. This still life is a signed original that is ready for framing and was painted on an Ampersand (TM) panel.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: I observe, and participate in, the change of hues. I stand alone in a perspective—influenced by the roads and detours that I’ve chosen. The subjects I interpret on canvas dance with tradition, but underneath exists an individual search for freedom. As a creator, I’ve always been interested in working with color. I see my life as having a palette of its own and I seek to have the chroma of my experiences come through in my paintings. Over time, I’ve realized the only way to achieve this goal is to risk exposure—to unveil my simplified forms to the viewer. Whether the forms operate within the context of landscape or still life, the resulting narrative is always a story of merit, regardless of public perception or understanding. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: I was born in Vancouver, BC in 1958 and then moved to California which is where my parents originally met. I lived there until I was 6 when my family moved across the US to New Jersey for my father's work. I grew up in a creative family and pursued art in college only to leave it upon graduation, dabbling with it over the years that followed. In 2010 I returned to painting on a more committed basis. This was spawned by some significant life changes and painting became my respite. I still reside in New Jersey and as an artist I appreciate the proximity to both Philadelphia and New York City. I've been showing my work since 2011 and continue to do so.
