About The Artwork

The little mouse Alfredo didn't know what to get his friend George, the buffalo, for his birthday. He thought about it for a long time, and then he thought about it some more. Would George like a little bit of cheese wrapped up in some fancy paper? Cheese was Alfredo's favorite, but George was a buffalo, not a mouse. Alfredo was pretty sure that buffalo did not eat cheese. No, he wouldn't give him cheese. Would George like snippets of ribbon and string, and shiny buttons? Alfredo loved these things. They were his favorite treasures and made his mousey home feel warm and special, and while he was sure George would think they were lovely too, George lived in the meadows and plains and did not have a mousey home to keep them in. No, he wouldn't give him ribbons and buttons. What about some new shoes? Alfredo laughed at himself. Buffalo didn't wear shoes! Alfredo thought some more. What could he give George that would let him know how wonderful and special he was? Then the perfect idea came to him, and he smiled as big as a mouse could possibly smile. What could be better than a cake full of wishes and birthday magic?

The whimsical storybook art I create is inspired by my girls and their wonderful imaginations, and (at their insistence) everything I make has a story to go along with it. Naturally, these are usually long and complicated tales, with princesses, monsters and lots of adventure. In our stories, friendship is the most powerful magic, monsters are usually just hungry and if you feed them they'll be your best friend, and endings are always happy.
