About The Artwork
I was a math major in college. I introduced a mathematical concept in this piece. The Greek symbol Delta (triangle) is used in equations to indicate a change. The pupils of the girl are triangles/Deltas. The children are out future. What does the future hold? What does she contemplate? I applied gesso onto the canvas in random strokes. I left it in whatever patterns or shapes developed. this forced a cooperative venture between my painting and the given surface. Allowing the process to take shape literally and figuratively was challenging and exhilarating.
