About The Artwork

Inspiration came to me during a car ride in the surroundings of Penjikent. I was looking out the car window and noticed a woman and her daughter in the courtyard of one of the village houses. Like wild birds in the Garden of Eden, they picked cherries in their colorful traditional dresses. I just couldn't drive past and asked to stop the car in order to shamelessly ask mistresses to admire the garden and the house. I took some colorful photos. But the most of all that attracted me was the window decorated with a bouquet of roses. A young Tajik girl had agreed to pose in it. So this portrait was born.

I have always been attracted to hand-made craft little things that preserve the traditions of folk culture. I believe that the best souvenir you can bring from a trip is something like that, bought at the local flea market. At some point, because of this hobby, I gathered a small collection of amusing ceramics, where each piece has its own unique shape and a different décor, often an ornament. I admired my treasures and wanted so much my artwork to look more like such a wild collection or a casket with gems, where the stones in it are not precious, but semi-precious. So that it reflects the traditional flavor, the beauty of identity, sometimes contrasted with modernity, and sometimes even disappearing. Now I live in Central Asia, Tajikistan. And here I find a lot of inspiring things for my new paintings every day and everywhere.
