About The Artwork

"The last brigand" is a work that tells the story of a man who, after stabbing a fellow villager (not mortally) during a fight, takes refuge in the Sila mountains to escape from the authorities. For years this man lives in caves where, a century earlier, brigands used to gather to organize their rebellion against the king of Italy. This man then defines himself as the last brigand, and recounts his life with his bent gaze, while his face is coloring with the cool green of the Sila trees and the orange sunsets that envelop those magical places towards evening.
