About The Artwork

A court case 1947. Amsterdam Jewess, Ans van Dijk (BBC, Academia type, in my humble opinion) was found guilty, including by her own admission, of treason against Dutch State. As collaborator with German occupation. Informing on hundreds of Jews subsequently deported and killed. Including her own brother. Executed, firing squad, dawn, Jan. 14th. 1949. If Dutch Court not good enough, there's latter testimony. Including evidence involving another collaborator Jewish Dutch notary-lawyer Arnold van den Bergh. There are those who claim your trust, charity, confidence, loyalty, fidelity, solidarity, work, money, life, love, etc., based upon identity, proclivity, affiliation, etc., or permutations of such. Myriad examples. My own and others. I deduce from particulars of atomized individuals to a common and universal reality. The Moral of the Painting? DON'T TRUST ANYONE. Venom on Canvas.

Lowborn, lacking Luxury Beliefs, but not inverted snob. Orphaned, outcast, male, straight, white, capitalist (a tiny fish in a very big pond), quite conservative in fiscal and social matters. In long term and friendly relationship. Purposely irrelevant prankster, yet pragmatic, singular, evolved, authentic, ironic, sardonic, sceptical. I realise some of these classifications could go against one. Definitely not intersected. Comparatively deprived early life, which has had life-long permanent effect. Not least in being grateful, for what I've got. And for any opportunities that I can both recognise and take. These themes within some of my works. Never faked a sarcasm too. Personally loyal to those who have tried or helped me. What else is a man of honour to do? Really enjoy painting, sometimes. In silence, without media lies etc., have noticed sound of my own breathing as I paint. Most expressive, rather than regular. Still learning after all these years. Still learning. Thank you for your interest.
